Cytec opens kitting facility in France
This opening, based in Toulouse, France, is
a key milestone for Cytec in its strategy to
bring manufacturing capabilities for value
added products and services closer to its
Europe based customers. This facility has
the capacity needed for the manufacture of
large vacuum bagging consumable kits for
applications such as aircraft wings or wind
turbine blades. Local manufacturing capabilities added to their expertise in consultancy
and design of complex kits and shaped bags
will enable Cytec to meet growing customer
requirements in Europe. Cytec Process
Materials already offers its kitting service out
of its sites in Keighley, UK, Santa Fe Springs
and Sumner, USA and Mondovi, Italy.

blade repair
The company forms a
Centre of Excellence for
fan blade repairs for the
GE CF6 high-bypass
turbofan engine, which is a
cornerstone of the widebody engine aircraft business. GKN Aerospace has a
large independent fan blade
shop, based in El Cajon, CA,
USA. This operation repairs
over 65,000 blades annually

Dong Energy takes over US offshore
wind development project
Dong Energy has agreed to take over
RES Americas Developments Inc.'s more
than 1000MW newly assigned development project rights off the coast of Massachusetts. At the offshore wind auction held
by BOEM (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) RES secured the rights to develop
one of the two leases that were awarded. The
lease comprises an area that could potentially
accommodate more than 1000MW. Following approval from BOEM, the lease will be
taken over by Dong Energy, a global market
leader in developing, building and operating
offshore wind farms.

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty
opens a new wheel and
brake repair facility in the
US

and supports over 180 airlines and jet engine
overhaul shops globally. The service holds a
wide range of approvals covering engine fan
blades, fan disks and fan cases from engine
manufacturers CFM International, Inc., GE
Aviation, International Aero Engines, Pratt &
Whitney and Rolls-Royce.

RES Americas will continue to support
development of the lease area as agreed with
Dong Energy. Entering the US offshore wind
market earmarks Dong Energy's entry into
the first project outside Europe.

NASA creates partnership to
advance composite materials for
aircraft of the future
The agency selected the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) in Hampton,
Virginia, to manage administration of the
Advanced Composites Consortium, which
is working to improve composite materials
research and certification. NASA formed
the consortium in support of the Advanced
Composites Project, which is part of the Advanced Air Vehicles Program in the agency's
Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate.
The project's goal is to reduce product
development and certification timelines
by 30 percent for composites infused into
aeronautics applications.

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty opens a
new wheel and brake repair facility
in the US
The company, through its subsidiary
MBD Wheel and Brake Repair and Services,
announces the opening of a wheel and brake
repair facility on the US upper East Coast, in
Bethlehem , PA. This will also allow MessierBugatti-Dowty to further develop its offering
of integrated packages to operators in North
America, offering both OEM support and
MRO services under a single agreement. The
Bethlehem facility will complement current
shops in Milwaukee, WI, and Miami, FL,
increasing its repair footprint in the US. This
new facility is the next step in Messier-Bugatti-Dowty's plan to expand nationwide, which
also anticipates further openings in the next
four years in order to strengthen its network
