Student eXperience: 3 questions to Prof. Francesco Rattalino, EVP,
Dean for Academic Affaires & Student Experience, ESCP
experience as a student. The learning experience is no longer the
unique challenge.
Three pillars shape our SX strategy: Well-being (Physical (Sport),
Mental, Digital), Strengthening Diversity and Inclusion, Student
Engagement.
How can we define the Student eXperience at ESCP?
We all understand what Customer eXperience (CX) is. Student
eXperience (SX) is a particular case of CX, as students interact with
several products, systems and services that an educational institution
offers. It is all about the interactions beyond the classroom, aiming to
enhance the sense of community. Interactions must be considered
broadly, including student-to-student interactions, student-to-staff
interactions, and student-to-professor interactions.
Our multicampus model brings the Student eXperience at a European
level and gives it a particularly powerful multicultural dimension. The
Student eXperience refers to the overall journey and engagement
of students during their academic period, encompassing various
aspects such as learning, social interactions, and extracurricular
activities. A student's academic achievement, emotional health,
and personal development can all be significantly impacted by their
LIGhTS strategy
As a complementary component of the broader Choices & Experience
strategy initiated in 2022, the LIGhTS strategy aims at fostering impact
research and projects in a rapidly evolving professional landscape,
and at positioning ESCP as a leader in producing visionary leaders
ready to face future challenges.
Since 1819, ESCP has been at the forefront of addressing environmental,
technological, and societal transformations. This rich
foundation serves as the cornerstone upon which we continue to
build. To reinforce our commitment and impact, we integrate five
Accelerators for IMPACT Research and Projects into our approach
to actively contribute to evolving challenges and opportunities.
The new LIGhTS initiative, rooted in humanistic values, is structured
around these key pillars: Leadership, Innovation & Entrepreneurship,
Geopolitics and Business, Tech and Deep Tech, and Sustainability.
These pillars collectively prepare individuals to thrive in a rapidly
changing world, reinforcing ESCP's commitment to holistic education
that aligns with humanistic values.
Leadership: Focused on cultivating and nurturing effective leadership
qualities to empower individuals in their professional and
personal projects.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Encouraging a spirit of innovation and
entrepreneurship, fostering creative thinking and proactive initiatives.
Geopolitics and Business: Navigating the complex interplay between
geopolitics and business, providing insights to navigate global
challenges.
Tech and Deep Tech: Delving into technology and deep tech realms,
staying at the forefront of advancements and leveraging them for
transformative solutions.
Sustainability: Committed to championing sustainability, integrating
environmental and social responsibility into business practices for
a more sustainable future.
These pillars collectively form the foundation of LIGhTS, representing
a holistic approach that aligns with our humanistic values and
prepares individuals to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Why has Student eXperience become nowadays the focal point
of our attention? Benchmarking other BS, how does ESCP position
itself?
The concept of Student eXperience has been widely used in the
education world for advertising purposes. A student-centric model
may seem obvious for a business school. That being said, while all
business schools prioritise the student experience, ESCP was the
first to include it in its 'Choices & Experience' strategic plan. The
quality of the experience directly impacts an institution's reputation,
its ability to recruit new students, and the long-term Alumni
Engagement process.
What is the organisation behind the Student Experience?
Working closely together with the Dean for Academic affairs & Student
Experience, Valentina Tabbachi is the Federal Director of student
experience as well as the referent for the Turin Campus. They are
supported by referents on each campus.
We actively encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities,
supporting student societies, clubs, and organisations. We
provide opportunities for community service, participation in business
competitions, and attendance at conferences. Moreover, we engage
students in strategic decisions with the Agora x EXCOM, focusing
on projects related to well-being, housing, sustainability, student
life, and financing tuition fees.
