building a sustainable future. What
initiatives are you taking in this area?
We have a special responsibility towards our
consumers and the planet. Moreover, our
founders endeavoured to work responsibly
right from the outset. Nowadays, this is the
beating heart of our work: fostering this
heritage, while ensuring that we achieve the
right balance between our business and the
needs of nature. As a complex ecosystem,
the soil is one of the most valuable natural
resources, and is a source of prosperity for
Moët Hennessy. Soil quality in our terroirs,
our people's knowledge, and the excellence
of our products, are inextricably linked.
However, our commitment goes further,
because caring for nature is also about
caring for people, and we are responsible
for supporting communities and contributing
to the common good, so that we live better
together, notably via our " Living Soils, Living
Together " platform, which focuses on four
major issues:
* Soil regeneration: our work over the past
few years has led to us being awarded
major environmental certification. We are
currently stepping up our work so that we
continue to minimise the use of chemical
inputs, restore and promote biodiversity,
and conserve water resources. This takes
the form of sharing innovative practices
with our partners to make for sustainable
and regenerative winegrowing and farming.
* Reducing our climate impact, particularly
with highly energy-efficient stores, but also
by endeavouring to recycle and limit waste
as much as possible.
* Social commitment, by raising client
awareness about
the importance of
responsible consumption. Our teams
support and back our houses' commitment
to their local communities, and we work
to motivate our partners to apply a
responsible purchasing approach.
* Making our teams accountable. Our staff
are the front line of our programmes,
and actively contribute to building a
sustainable future. Their commitment
and active involvement are therefore
key. As a responsible employer, we
endeavour to ensure optimal safety, and
we attach particular importance to quality
of life at work. To promote a sustainable
development culture, we offer them
specialist training courses with a professional
framework, making citizen engagement a
necessity and inclusion a priority. We are
firmly convinced that diversity is a real
source of vibrancy. It is our teams' desire
and commitment to these CSR issues that
will enable us collectively to have a major
positive impact.
Young people sometimes have erroneous
ideas about the luxury goods industry,
often connected to the traditional image
of an artisan industry that evolves
very slowly. What is your view?
Quite the opposite, I think that luxury goods,
particularly in the LVMH Group and in Moët
Hennessy, is an extremely successful industry.
We capitalise on the DNA of our houses,
traditions and know-how to modernise and
be contemporary, ambitious and innovative.
A passion for creativity is fundamental, and
tradition has to be disruptive! I personally
feel
that young people today view the
luxury goods industry as an innovative,
creative, inventive industry with a strong
entrepreneurial component which makes it
truly unique.
What are the career prospects
for young people at LVMH?
It's an amazing opportunity for young people
to join the LVMH Group and contribute
to the development of the world leader in
luxury products. The group offers talented
people incredible opportunities in several
sectors (fashion, perfume and cosmetics,
wines and spirits, watches and jewellery,
selective retailing and more) and in several
roles (finance, marketing, retail etc.) in a global
context. If they join our group, they can help
showcase the art of living and craftsmanship
of our houses around the world!
