care activists. I think we are worthy of this
mission; La Roche-Posay is so useful and
effective that it is the most recommended
brand by dermatologists all over the world.
Have you insisted on this
responsibility since you became the
brand's president?
I have. We don't want to innovate for
the sake of innovating. We must bring
something useful. To do so, it seems
important to collaborate with dermatologists
and health-care providers who are close
to the patients. Over the years, we have
expanded our medical team and globalised
our relationships with doctors to provide
relevant and inclusive solutions depending
on the areas we work in and on skin colours.
Our brand is number one because it has
become a dermatological reference on a
worldwide scale, but also because we are
on a constant mission, which is changing
the life of people who have skin problems.
Why do you want to " change
people's lives " so much?
Because skin problems can ruin people's
lives. 2 billion people suffer from skin
problems in the world today; public health
is at stake. When you look at clinical studies,
you realise that skin problems have a real
impact on people's quality of life, selfesteem,
and mental health. For instance,
50% of the teenagers who have acne tend
to become withdrawn, while 79% of people
with eczema are often absent from work. As
the leading skin-care brand, we must talk
about it and share solutions. We must put
the light on this little-known problem.
Recently, you have started a battle
to help people who suffer from
cancer.
We invest a lot to help patients who have
cancer, because 80% of the patients who get
a treatment suffer from skin side effects, like
burns, cracks, or itches. It is alarming, and
no one talks about it. We want to make this
taboo public but also find solutions. We have
been collaborating with oncologists and
dermatologists to make innovative products
and help people who are on a treatment. We
have also launched an awareness campaign
to let people know that there are solutions
to treatment-related skin conditions.
What will be the brand's future
challenges?
As the president of a brand with over onebillion
turnover, my duty is also to go on a
philanthropic mission and have a positive
impact. We want to be the Patagonia of
skincare. Patagonia is an outdoor-sports
clothing brand. Innovation is their DNA, but
they are also very committed. Their mantra
is: " We are in business to save our home
planet. " They even give 1% of their profit
to save the planet. We want to do the same
thing to help people who have cancer.
What is the thing you are the
proudest of?
Personally speaking, I am proud to have
a great family, with my three children (19,
16, 14) and my husband. Professionally
speaking, besides my enthralling
responsibilities, I am proud to have an
impact on the world through La RochePosay.
I am also very happy to have built a
team with people from all kinds of horizons
who work hard on big issues.

Advices to future graduates
Dream big, dare, and enjoy! Think
big, go beyond the limits, and have
fun. Dare doing things that make you
happy, don't make default choices just
to meet your family's expectations.
You might fail once in a while, but
life is like skiing: if you want to land
a medal, don't be afraid to fall!
