offer will be key in this context but we must
continue to leverage our multi-campus and
multi-national model.
There are profound forces at work in education
generally and in executive education
specifically. As noted, the pandemic and
ensuing economic crisis has shrunk the
market short-term and squeezed margins.
Moreover, the digital acceleration prompted
by the pandemic has changed the game. It
is clear that future participants will be more
attuned to online learning if not always willing
to forego an on-campus experience.
This will threaten the hegemony of campus-based
institutions and those slow to
offer digital product and service in exciting
and innovative ways. Many are already
looking outside of the traditional business
school for their ongoing education and competition
for participants will only intensify.
Executive education must certainly prepare
executives to navigate this VUCA world and
to respond to sudden challenges and developments
that might test their competences,
skills and knowledge sets. ESCP must be
quick to support companies and professionals
in their responses and prepare them
for future leadership challenges. Interest is
exploding in such topics as risk management,
crisis management, analytics and forecasting,
diversity management, and remote
leadership. These are all areas where ESCP
has expertise and a strong voice so I am optimistic
about the role we can play in adressing
these issues and helping executives and
organisations to react quickly and smartly to
often unpredictable challenges. We are also
making big strides in virtual and hybrid executive
education moving with many clients
to new ways of working and offering more
diverse solutions.
What are ESCP Assets?
I think ESCP's international mentality is
clearly an asset as is its multi-campus model.
We also have a well established brand and
impressive rankings. Few Schools enjoy the
range and quality of national and global
accreditations we hold and this again is a
quality mark and platform for continuous
improvement. So much of what we are
capable of achieving rests with our outstanding
students and faculty, and with the
energy and service of our alumni. I truly
believe that ESCP is privileged by the
relationship in place between the School,
Foundation and Alumni Association and
I have seen its effectiveness as a Campus
Dean and EXCOM member.
Have you a message for ESCP
alumni?
I talked of our assets and the Alumni
network is among our most important. Our
ESCP alumni community is very close to
the School and many play an important
part in our corporate and external activity.
My message is one of thanks and invitation.
I am grateful for the numerous ways
in which our work is supported from the
classroom to referrals. My invitation is to
stay connected or connect for the first time.
My Directorate is a natural point of entry
and one of my responsibilities as EVP will be
to help further strengthen the relationship
we have together. We certainly encourage
our alumni to bring their organisations to
ESCP and ESCP to their organisations. Our
alumni are so often the connecting rod
between the School and partner companies.
I would also flag the excellence and
relevance of our EMBA and EPHd as senior
executive programmes open to alumni with
specific benefits. Over the coming period
I will be looking at new pathways to support
continuing professional development
and life-long learning at all levels, pathways
that will appeal to our alumni and support
them fully
