Graduated in 2010, Wolfgang DWORZAK (10) tells us more about his
career and his current responsibility as Head of Business Analysis at
Novomatic.

Tell us more about your career.
My professional career at Novomatic
star ted in 2011 as Product Owner. As
the central communication interface for a
specific product development, it requires
communicating with different customers
on the business side and to development
teams consisting of software and hardware
engineers.
In 2015, I was promoted Head of Business
Analysis with the responsibility of recruiting
a new Team of Business Analysts within
Novomatic Research & Development. The
new department was formed to improve
and strengthen the products quality. It was a
great honor for me and a sign that my work
was positively valued by the management
and Novomatic. A few words to present
Novomatic and your current responsibilities.
Novomatic's 40-years success story began
in 1980 with its foundation by Prof. Johann
F. Graf in Gumpoldskirchen, Austria.
Its ambition is to be the most innovative
and responsible provider of " responsible
entertainment " in the world. Nowadays,
Novomatic employs 30 0 0 0 people
worldwide (25 technology centers in
15 countries and 14 production sites in 11
countries). It has a revenue of 5,1 billion €.
I lead a team of business analysts. I ensure

that the result of their individual work
guarantees the quality of the delivered
product.

What are the main topics you
are actually working on?
We drive requirements in a diverse set of
topics: gaming terminals, responsible gaming
systems, Jackpot Systems, Video Lottery
Terminals, Casino Management Systems or
Electronic Lottery Systems. For example,
we developed and provide one of the most
innovative responsible gaming systems in the
world. It uses Biometric Data -the players
finger print- to identify the player and
manage the access control to gaming venues
and unlocks/locks gaming machines in the
arcade. Even financial transactions within the
gaming venue are managed via the players
finger print. It is deployed throughout more
than 150 gaming arcades.
The Business Analysts team sits together
along with different par ties from the
operative side including its management, to
define, and specify the system requirements.
In our work, we always keep in mind the
regulation and the balancing out of our
customers wishes, but also what can be
done in terms of technical complexity and
development duration.

What are the skills you have
developed during your studies that
you still rely on nowadays?
During ESCPs Specialized Master Program
in international project management, I have
met people with different cultural and
educational backgrounds. It helped me to ask
the right questions to understand colleagues
thinking, as well as efficiently collaborating
with a diverse team of people. One of
the significant strength of ESCP Europe is
definitely its diverse students setup which
allowed me at an early stage in my career
to get a glimpse of what leaderships core
knowhow requires.
At ESCP I developed the fundamental
skills to understand and steer people to
excellence. Due to the diverse background
of the other students' education and culture,
it allowed me to get in touch with a large
spectrum of different ways of thinking.
This is a vital asset in order to be able to
select the right person for a specific position
or task.
In addition, the experience and opportunity
to go to India and China in 2009 was very
insightful. It was a great chance to observe
different economic development, while its
also was an interesting human experience
traveling with my colleagues.
