aujourd'hui, à l'époque elle faisait de l'EAP
une école à part. Dans les autres écoles
de commerce, les étudiants désireux de
partir à l'étranger devaient se contenter
d'un semestre d'échange dans une université partenaire. Du fait de ces spécifiés, il
était assez courant que des étudiants fasse
le choix d'intégrer l'EAP plutôt que certaines écoles pourtant plus renommées.
Il était d'ailleurs difficile de situer l'EAP par
rapport aux autres grandes écoles de commerce puisque de nombreux classements
la considérait comme une école à part.
La fusion avec l'ESCP en 1999
Sous l'impulsion de la CCI, une fusion
entre l'ESCP et l'EAP fut décidée et pris
acte en 1999. Si c'était bien sûr l'occasion
de réalisation des économies d'échelles,
les motivations au regroupement des deux
écoles parisiennes ne s'arrêtaient pas là.
L'Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris
(ou plutôt Sup de Co Paris comme on
avait l'habitude de la nommer à l'époque)
proposait une formation traditionnelle et
jouissait d'une très bonne réputation en
France. L'EAP, un peu moins reconnue au
niveau national, l'était davantage au-delà
des frontières, notamment dans les pays
où se trouvaient ses campus. Les deux
écoles parisiennes étaient finalement assez
complémentaires : leur fusion permis de
donner à l'ESCP le renouveau dont elle
avait besoin et d'apporter à l'EAP un nom
souvent synonyme d'excellence académique aussi bien aux yeux des étudiants
que des recruteurs français. L'école née de
cette fusion fut tout simplement nommée
ESCP-EAP.
est toujours bien visible aujourd'hui.
Les campus européens en sont la preuve
la plus évidente. Si le nouveau changement de nom de notre école, dix ans après
la fusion, au profit d'ESCP Europe a pu être
interprété comme un effacement de l'EAP,
il laisse cependant transparaitre clairement
l'ADN de cette dernière.
