A green space of 6.5 hectares - soon to be 10 - welcomes the visitor at the MartinLuther-King parc, at the heart of the Clichy-Batignolles eco-district (17th arr.). Launched in 2002, the initiative is bound to be completed by 2019. Ground water heat will be used for heating. The residential area is based on sustainable development, both in the construction and use of its buildings. Eventually, 40,000 m² of photovoltaic panels will cover the roofs and produce electricity. The heat from underground water (28 °C) will be recovered and used for heating and domestic hot water, using geothermal techniques. There are also insulation, orientation, solar protection and natu- ral ventilation solutions proposed by the architects, in order to contribute to the comfort and thermal performance of the buildings. reducing noise and air pollution As a pioneer in this field, the ecodistrict is also experimenting with pneumatic waste collection, thus limiting bin vehicle traffic and reducing noise and air pollution. A target supported by the development of modes of transport such as the tram, the metro, Velib' and Autolib'... The aim: reducing their energy consumption and their greenhouse gas emissions by 30 % by 2020. One hundred schools have already been renovated.
