Acrysmart® masterbatch for smart energy management

Acrysmart® is a new, intelligent masterbatch for acrylic glass (PMMA), which as an affordable alternative
to mineral glass is widely used in construction. Acrysmart® glass changes its transmittance of light and solar radiation as a function of the ambient air temperature. It offers the advantage of automatic shutdown
at higher temperatures on hot summer days and the optimal use of daylight at low temperatures. Thus,
solar energy can be used for heating and cooling energy can be saved. Acrysmart® ensures a pleasant and
comfortable atmosphere for humans, animals or plants. It can be readily processed in PMMA moulding compounds in existing industrial facilities. Solid sheets, multi-wall sheets or corrugated sheets produced with the
masterbatch can be easily integrated into standard building constructions. Potential applications are: sky- and
rooflights, conservatories and greenhouses, carports and canopies, facade elements and bus shelters.
An Acrysmart® demonstrator clearly shows the mode of action of this novel product at the HPF booth on the joint stand of North Rhine Westphalia.

Daron® 8150
For automotive high-performance SMC applications and carbon SMC applications, Aliancys is introducing the novel Daron® 8150 resin. Featuring excellent wetting of both glass and carbon fibres, the resin provides elevated strength
and stiffness in lightweight moulded components. The easy processing of Daron®
8150 resin brings quality, consistency and predictable performance in high-volume
manufacturing.
Beyone™ 700-T-01 FC
Relining has been the solution of choice for renovating sewage pipe networks, avoiding open streets and the associated inconvenience for nearby residents. With the new
styrene-free Beyone 700-T-01 FC resin, now also drinking water networks can be
easily repaired at competitive cost. The resin ingredients are on the positive list for
food contact, the resin is manufactured in line with GMP, and the resin/glass liner
systems were approved by KIWA-ATA. Liners made from Beyone 700-T-01 FC resin
bring great continuity of operation to network owners.
Neomould® 2017-S-1
Aliancys is introducing the new Neomould® 2017-S-1 resin for manufacturing composite tooling. The unique resin characteristics result in moulds that perfectly mirror
the surface and dimensions of the plug. The thixotropic nature of the resin allows for
excellent application on vertical surfaces without sagging. While through-cure is fast,
the exothermic heat is surprisingly low. For these reasons, the resin is highly suitable
for making thick parts in one go.

The ranges of use for foaming resin systems are
varied. Especially in the automobile and rail
vehicle branches, they are indispensable when very light
and stable components are required. These days, greater
emphasis is being placed on making the properties of foaming
resins even safer. BÜFA Composites successfully achieved this
goal and added a further variant to these systems: to help protect
life, the company located in
Rastede, Germany, now also
offers the BÜFA®-Firestop S
900 foaming resin - a product that is unique the world
over.
The classic foaming resin system, which consists of an unsaturated
polyester resin as the base resin and is foamed with special blowing agents, was further developed for this purpose. In addition
to the safety aspect, up to 45% weight can be saved using BÜFA
foaming resin products. The innovative combination of lightness,
stability and preventive fire protection also guarantees outstanding advantages when processing the product, such as homogeneous foam formation and high surface quality. BÜFA Composite
Systems makes the production of components safe and easy.

Kane Ace MX tougheners for thermosets
Kane Ace™ MX is Kaneka's novel core shell rubber (CSR) toughening agent for thermosetting resins.
This predispersed CSR masterbatch enhances the physical properties of resins through optimal dispersion of
core shell particles.
This revolutionary liquid impact modifier achieves highly improved strength, improved fracture toughness
and endurance without losing the heat resistant characteristics of the original systems, such as glass transition
temperature (Tg). The Kane Ace MX is used for composite, adhesive, coating, casting and other applications.
The company recently developed a new grade - MX-EXP(HM5) - that can improve fracture toughness while
maintaining not only the Tg but also the flexural modulus and transparency of epoxy systems. MX-EXP(HM5)
is the most suitable toughening agent for composite applications that need a high modulus and good appearance
(transparency).
On top of this epoxy-based toughening agent, Kaneka's product line now includes new grades suitable for unsaturated polyester resin (UPE), vinyl ester resin (VER) and polyurethane systems. The new grade for UP/VER - MX010 - can improve toughness and mitigate crack problems resulting from the brittleness of UPE and VER during
processing, and the grade for PU can boost the toughness of polyurethane without affecting thermal properties.
