New industrial fabrication process: H-PreC BloK

parts for the aeronautic and industrial sectors, launches a new industrial fabrication process at JEC 2017: H-PreC BloK.
The new H-PreC BloK process allows the fabrication of high-quality, high-mechanical-resistance thermoset carbon parts using continuous fibres
that are oriented into three-dimensional structures according to the mechanical strains without the need for expensive 3D preforms or pre-impregnated carbon fibres. The final shape of the part is obtained using fast CNC machining, hence allowing very precise and complex shaping.
Currently, the size of the parts ranges from a few centimetres up to 1.5 metres. The H-PreC BloK process already finds applications in many sectors such
as aeronautics, motorcycles, bikes, sports equipment and industrial machines. The process, originally
developed for the aeronautic sector, is mechanized and ensures perfect traceability of the production
and reproducibility of the parts while keeping the cost of the parts in the range of high-end aluminium,
from prototyping to mass production. This is hence a possible direct replacement of metal, plastic and
short-fibre-based composite parts. The competitive cost is made possible by the absence of specific
tooling for the fabrication and a quick prototyping step. The feasibility is determined directly from the
3D file of the part.

MAGLOC air ejector for moulds

comprising just two hardened steel parts locked together using
NeFeB-generated magnetism. This provides the simplest solution to
construction and assembly integration. Furthermore, in operation its
base needs only a sharp tap so air pressure can be safely applied to aid
product ejection and removal. After years of marketing more complex and
pricy ejectors, it was time to re-evaluate and innovate a simpler, far less costly solution. The MAGLOC air ejector is the result, bringing a robust, lowcost unit to market for the moulding community. The mould builder can
either mould MAGLOC into a composite mould
or retrofit by sealing it into a 13mm diameter hole.
In operation, the smooth mould side face is kept
closed by a strong magnetic force and designed
to open with a simple sharp blow to its base. Even
thick and very rigid cured parts can be fractionally released. This allows compressed air to be
applied through the MAGLOC to aid part ejection. Marketed at less than
£20 each, the company predicts that MAGLOC will become the mould air

At JEC World Paris on 14-16 March 2017, JETCAM will exhibit version 4 of its CrossTrack Composite Manufacturing suite, including
the new Material Tracking Lite (MTL) product aimed at customers
who want low-cost material life tracking of rolls and kits. CrossTrack
MTL provides a cost-effective way to implement traceability of both rolls
and kits of plies across the cutting room. Staff are presented with a simple
interface where batches of material can be created and booked in quickly using barcode scanners. Unlimited locations can be added, after which stock
can be tracked as it moves
around the facility. Once
plies are cut, the resulting
kits can also be added and
tracked. The suite also
tracks the remaining life of both rolls and kits, and allows for full reporting
using a powerful in-built reporting engine. CrossTrack MTL is "nesting system agnostic" and does not need to integrate with JETCAM Expert CAM/
nesting software, but can be upgraded to higher end versions at any time
in the future if required. It will also include the option to connect to RFID
scanning systems, which will allow for completely hands-free and automatic scanning of materials or kits as they arrive or leave locations, removing the
requirement for staff to manually input or scan each item. Many companies
need to provide traceability reports for their customers when delivering finished parts, and all the versions of CrossTrack now include an immediate
traceability report for either a given roll or kit with a right-click of a mouse.
Every kit report provides comprehensive data, including movements, for
the plies it contains and any roll of material associated with it, along with
its location, time-stamps and who created the log entry. Other features include improved grid/nest batch reports, the ability to link materials that
are not plies into a given assembly (i.e. honeycomb "fillers"), and database
slimming, which results in significantly smaller database file sizes as data
is added to the system. CrossTrack 4 is also able to use barcode scanners
for semi-automatic barcode scanning, as well as advanced RFID scanning
technology for automatic tracking of rolls, kits, moulds and other items.
JETCAM will also be showcasing the latest versions of its Expert nesting
software and Orders Controller software, both of which include several
new major features. Expert's new interface also benefits from continuous
improvements, including right-click menus and sub-menus from within all

QSP - One-minute thermoplastic

Pinette P.E.I. has co-created the Quilted Stratum Process (QSP), a
high-series production line for CFRP and thermoplastic (TP) matrix
structural parts. The line produces multi-thickness, multi-material and
net-shaped structural parts that are ready for direct assembly.
QSP can use fast tape-layering, heating or compression and over-moulding processes. The raw materials used for moulding can be semi-finished
products, tapes or rolls and plates. When using the pultrusion process, fibre
roving and plastic granulates are used as the raw materials.
QSP is a scalable production line allowing very high material usage rates, with
an automotive cycle of 1 part produced
per minute using 5 kg of raw materials
per minute. QSP allows the production
