(Hall 5A, Booth A64) The use of composites is expected to grow rapidly in the Building & Construction sector (at a CAGR of 5% from 2015 to 2020) due to the fact that composites have some really strong advantages to offer in buildings and that they are still not yet fully adopted. JEC introduces the Building Planet to highlight this trend and to help develop the composite market in this sector. The scope of the Building Planet will be enlarged to show the use and possibilities of composites in all the areas of construction, e.g. bridges, exterior panels, composite repair as well as architectural construction and some interior design elements. Because many of these applications are very large, the Building Planet cannot physically host them all and case studies will be presented instead of the largest building applications. Among the most impressive displays, Aliancys will show a model of the largest composite lock gate that was installed in Tillburg, the Netherlands in 2016. Riba Composites will display for the first time in Europe, just a few days after its world premiere, its 7-metre stinger for a telescopic crane.
