New bioresin for infusion and injection techniques > Booth:
Sicomin will be extending their GreenPoxy bio-based Hall 6 - G39
product range with the introduction of SR InfuGreen 810, which targets
manufacturers producing parts using injection or infusion techniques.
This clear resin has a very low viscosity at standard room temperature
with approximately 38% carbon content derived from plant-based origins
(ASTM D6866). SR InfuGreen 810 is available with a choice of two hardeners,
SD4770 and SD4771, which makes it suitable for small to very large components
including extremely thick laminates.
Sicomin's complete range of GreenPoxy
bio-based products offers carbon contents ranging from 28% to 51%, the
highest on the market tested in accordance with ASTM D6866. The company also provides the largest choice of
bio-systems that can be used in hand
laminating, infusion, pultrusion/filament winding and HP-RTM processes.

ABM Composite - A new era

Arctic Biomaterials has developed a biobased and biodegradable bioglass-reinforced composite material
(ArcBioX). This material breaks today's boundaries for
biobased and biodegradable composites in terms of temperature and mechanical performance. The ABM Composite material is produced with LFT technology, hence the fibre lengths
can be tailored to customer requirements. What makes the reinforcement unique is that it is
also biodegradable. In terms
of temperature, the ArcBioX
material is able to reach a
+160°C heat deflection temperature (HDT) (1.8MPa).
As regards mechanical performance, it can offer an alternative to
several oil-based technical plastics such as glass-reinforced PA.
Customers have now more possibilities to reduce their carbon
footprint in various demanding applications such as replacing
steel or oil-based based technical plastics. Arctic Biomaterials also
has a medical division that created bioresorbable materials with
superior strength compared to today's materials.

Kane Ace MX - Tougheners for thermosets

Kane Ace MX is Kaneka's novel core shell rubber (CSR) Hall 6 - J39
toughening agent for thermosetting resins. This predispersed CSR masterbatch enhances the physical properties of the resins through optimal
dispersion of core shell particles. This revolutionary liquid impact modifier
achieves highly improved strength, and improved fracture toughness and endurance without losing the heat resistant characteristics
- such as glass transition temperature (Tg) - of original
systems. Kane Ace MX is used for composite, adhesive,
coating, casting and other applications. The company
recently developed the new MX-170 grade, which can
improve fracture toughness while maintaining not only
the Tg but also the flexural modulus and transparency
of epoxy systems. MX-170 is the most suitable toughening agent for composite applications that need a high
modulus and good appearance (transparency). In addition to the above-mentioned epoxy-based toughening agent, the product line now
offers new grades suitable for unsaturated polyester resins (UPE), vinyl ester resins
(VER) and polyurethane systems. The new grade for UP/VER, MX-010, can improve toughness and mitigate crack problems during processing that come from
the brittleness of UPE and VER, and the grade for PU can boost the toughness of
polyurethane without impairing thermal properties.

A&P Technology introduces

TX-45, a new +/-45° product
Hall 6 - G6
TX-45 was introduced by A&P as a standard product in
early 2017. TX-45 is a low-cost, continuous 45° fabric with
uniform fabric architecture. It is a +/-45° 193gsm 2x2 twill
delivered on carrier paper enabling easy handling and consistent fibre orientation. TX-45 was developed for an aerospace
customer interested in a substitute for a +/-45 plain-weave prepreg. The cost and time savings enabled by TX-45 and its superior mechanical performance have attracted the attention of many
prepreggers and end users.
TX-45 complements A&P's line of braided fabrics which includes
QISO, a single-layer quasi-isotropic fabric used in aerospace applications, industrial applications, composite tooling and communication dishes; Bimax, a +/-45° fabric stabilized with hot
melts across the width providing consistent fibre orientation; and
ZERO, a cost-effective, non-crimp unidirectional fabric. A&P's
fabrics can be produced with any fibre type, are available in a variety of widths and areal weights, and can be customized to meet
specific part requirements.

Expanding the use of composites - 50-year celebration

Johns Manville, a leading manufacturer and marketer of premium-quality building and specialty products, will present innovative solutions for the
StarRov roving used in LFT and structural thermoplastic composites. Additionally, an industrial application using the MultiStar 272 roving glass
fibre reinforcement in SMC will be highlighted. Further, three new products using the MultiStar roving for
SMC, StarRov for pultrusion and ThermoFlow for PP will be on display. The new offering further expands
the use of reinforced thermoset and thermoplastic applications to support growth in Europe. JM will also celebrate 50 years of its first production of glass fibres. The operation in Trnava, Slovakia, focuses on productivity and
produces a balanced portfolio of chopped strands and rovings for the composites market, to the benefit of customers
searching for professionalism and people they can trust.
