DSM Composite Resins
to be renamed Aliancys
Earlier this year DSM announced a
partnership with CVC Capital Partners
(CVC). This involved the formation
of a holding company and the start of
the DSM Composite Resins business
as a separate business unit. As per January
2016, DSM Composite Resins will have a
new name: Aliancys.
Aliancys has a 50 year track record of
supplying composite resins of high quality
consistency. Starting from comprehensive
application and market knowledge, the
company has been growing composites
markets through focused innovation. Aliancys will continue to support its customers
to increase long-term competitiveness,
being a reliable and stable business partner
committed to the composites industry.
The company's headquarters are based in
Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Aliancys is a
joint venture of CVC Capital Partners and
Royal DSM.

A compact line for carbon recycling
will be installed at Institute für
Textiltechnik in Augsburg
Dilo Group, a manufacturer of innovative
and productive machines and production systems for non-woven applications,
decided to set up a compact line for carbon
fibre recycling at Institut für Textiltechnik
(ITA) in Augsburg.

The ITA therefore will further strengthen
its position as Europe´s address for the
development of products made of recycled
carbon fibres. The compact line will
include bale opening, feeding, carding,
crosslapping, needling and winding.
By means of installing the compact line in
the technical center of the Institut für Textiltechnik Augsburg, future requirements in
terms of economic efficiency and function
integration can be addressed, focusing on
the development of hybrid -as well as thermoplastic- and thermoset-materials made
of carbon fibre waste.

Toray will build integrated production line for carbon fibre in the U.S.
The new agreement extends the comprehensive agreement that was signed in
November 2005 by more than 10 years
from this year. The total value of prepreg
Toray Group will supply for both 787 and
777X programs for the contract period is
expected to exceed $11 billion.
Together with the extension, Toray has
made a decision to invest approximately
50 billion yen in new construction of
an integrated production line for yarn
(precursor), high-performance carbon
fibre Torayca with an annual production
capacity of 2,000 tons, and Torayca prepreg
in the new commercial premises it acquired
in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It
represents the first phase of a planned 100
billion yen investment, as Toray seeks to
expand its composite materials business
in the U.S. The new facility will also be
Toray's first integrated production line for
yarn (precursor), carbon fibre Torayca and
Torayca prepreg in the U.S.
Toray will commence production of yarn
(precursor) in phases starting in May
2017, and plans to begin supplying Torayca
prepreg to Boeing in 2019, following certification.

Plastic Omnium inaugurates
a development center in Tokyo
This center, which groups together
80 people, is designed to support
Plastic Omnium's growth among Japanese automotive manufacturers.
It houses the design and management
of the development of new automotive
programs and ensures sales development for all Plastic Omnium's automotive activities - exterior components
and modules, fuel systems and emissions control systems - for Japanese
manufacturers.
Plastic Omnium partners the Japanese
manufacturers Honda, Isuzu, Nissan,
Suzuki and Toyota, which it supplies
on 4 continents and in 14 different
countries. The share of these manufacturers, which represents 6% of Plastic
Omnium's global automotive revenue, is
expected to increase with the construction of new production capacity and the
development of innovative offerings.
