Microwave-assisted curing
for resin transfer moulding
Currently, polyester, vinylester and epoxy resins are
cured by heat, ultraviolet radiation or electron beam.
The thermal process is the most common in this sector.
The use of microwave radiation as a new curing
technology for these thermoset resins adapted to RTM
process can provide some important advantages as
improved flexibility and cost-efficient than current
curing technologies.

the filling and curing steps. Therefore,
the main objectives of using microwave
curing in RTM are to: optimise resin
polymerization, increase productivity
and cost effectiveness, and reduce curing
time, manual work, production cycle
time, energy consumption and styrene
emissions.
