per year; in 2011, 50% of production

moulds are made in house. One building is dedicated entirely to testing.
A range of static tests are performed
– fatigue, strength, etc. – in the best
possible conditions. Some of the
tests are followed through up to four
million cycles.

in 2007, meets all international
standards. It is divided into three
independent but complementary
functional areas, which are production, offices and logistics. Located at
the northwest of the Dapu industrial
area, it covers several hectares, with

blade, Zhongfu Lianzhong demonstrated that it can develop and manufacture blades with state-of-the-art
technology. The company works with
the largest suppliers in the composite
sector, including PPG, Saertex, OCV,
Huntsman and Momentive, among
others. Its blades are exported to
Japan, Korea, Brazil, India, Sweden
and the UK. Exports account for
more than 20% of business, and that
share is growing. Offshore is another
market segment where the company
has objectives. That segment currently accounts for 15% of business,
and the goal is to reach 30% over the
medium term. Zhongfu Lianzhong is
also experimenting with carbon fibre
to make its next blades longer and
lighter. The carbon fibre is supplied
by CNBM, who plans to build a
production unit with a capacity of
10’000 metric tons/year. The teams
also work on lightning protection
systems.
As a market leader, the company must
maintain its position in a turbulent
2012 market with a noticeable business slowdown, particularly in China,
yet also continue to invest in new

programmes in response to markets
that are more and more demanding.
The most advanced programmes are
working on 120m-long blades for the
offshore industry. So the challenge
facing Zhongfu Lianzhong is a significant one. To meet this challenge, the
company is in relation with a network
of schools and universities that can
provide the best technicians and
engineers.
It is not overlooking diversification,
either, and has made contacts in the
energy sector with a view to deep-sea
applications. n
