CSM 450 g/m² emulsion mat using 1.0 wt % NORPOL® Peroxide 1 showed a similar Barcol (GYZJ 934-1) buildup accompanied with a slightly lower exotherm for ECOS ND15. Application results in gelcoat resins All parameters tested with ECOS ND15 are good and in line with standard cobalt octoate , as shown in Table 2. The accelerator has now been tested in 14 different standard resins covering the main types of resins and application areas that account for up to 30% of the total volume sold in Europe. In all cases, it proved to be an effective 1:1 replacement for standard cobalt octoate. Tests will continue to cover the entire spectrum of UPR systems and ancillary products utilized for all known composite market applications. n

Mechanical testing Extensive mechanical testing using ECOS ND15 as an accelerator gave no significant difference compared to standard cobalt octoate. Testing of tensile strength, tensile elongation and tensile modulus at three different temperatures (-40°C, RT and +60°C), Charpy, HDT and Barcol (GYZJ 934-1) showed no differences using ECOS ND15 as an accelerator compared to the standard cobalt octoate reference. Gel time, peak exotherm and cone & plate viscosity Table 1 gives gel time, peak exotherm and cone & plate viscosity after one day and 30 days. For the gel time, 1.0 wt % of NORPOL® Peroxide 1 (Butanox® M-50 / Cadox® D-50) was applied, whilst 2.0 wt % NORPOL® Peroxide 1 was used for the reactivity measurements. For the vinylester resin, 2.0 wt % NORPOL® Peroxide 24 (ANDONOX® CHM - 50) was used. Furthermore, testing reactivity in 6-layer
