Momentive Performance Materials expands capacity Specialty chemicals company Momentive Performance Materials announced plans to invest $1.7 million to expand the capacity of its Sistersville, W.Va., plant to produce amino silanes. Silanes are used to help materials such as adhesives and fiberglass bond to surfaces, including rubber, glass, metal, stone and plastic. They are used in automotive, construction, electronics and other industries. FMW Composite Systems created carbon-fiber carrier for NASA The Bridgeport company manufactured the composite carrier (SLIC) that was utilized for NASA’s mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI) Composites Technology & Training Center Under the terms of a cooperative agreement and grant, RCBI operates a Center of Excellence for composites in support of NASA. Working directly with NASA engineers as well as local composites manufacturers, RCBI assists in the development of composites materials used for space flight vehicles. RCBI has training, guidance and tools to assist current composites manufacturers or traditional manufacturers wanting to diversify and expand into composites.

Hexcel add 400 new jobs
Hexcel Corporation plans to expend into part of West Valley City’s new 400+ acre industrial park EDA and create roughly 400 new jobs and $1.1 billion in capital investment over the next 15 years. The new manufacturing facility will allow Hexcel to remain the largest manufacturer of high performance carbon fiber in the U.S. and will serve as a catalyst for continued growth in the advanced composites and aerospace industries in the state.

Janicki Industries adds 50+ Jobs in Utah, 2011
Janicki Industries supplies engineering and composite manufacturing services to ATK in Clearfield, Utah and to Hitco Carbon Composites in Gardena, California. Janicki Industries has made a $19.5 million capital investment in real and personal property.

It will hire 50 new employees at an average salary that is over 125% of the Davis County average.
