Today it is one of the major comprehensive universities in Europe. The business school of the University, the AgBS, has chosen the 17th century traditional Dutch ship to symbolise discovery, adventure, trade and economics. At least two years of relevant professional experience is mandatory. All applicants are required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). A good working knowledge of English is essential and applicants can be asked to take a TOEFL test I Curriculum Drawing on a faculty with wide international experience in both international business and academia, courses are offered introducing students to underlying theory, best practice and recent developments in international business. AgBS courses are stimulating and demanding and comply fully with the specification of an MBA as defined by EQUIS and AMBA. Among the courses in the curriculum are: Corporate Finance, Financial Accounting, HR Management, Marketing, Strategic Management, Operations Management, Information Management and Business Law. The Amsterdam MBA is continually being developed. The courses on offer may be adjusted to reflect student demand, changes in the world of business, both practical and academic, and changes in the available faculty. No change to the MBA ethos, as defined above, will be made AMSTERDAM The Dutch capital is a leader in finance and trade, and lies in the heart of Europe. The world’s first public stock exchange was founded in Amsterdam, and served as an example for stock markets all over the world. Hence, The Amsterdam MBA could not be situated in more befitting surroundings. WHO SHOULD APPLY? The Amsterdam MBA has a strong international focus and has been designed for ambitious professionals and academics. The courses aim at practitioners and will prepare students for a professional rather than an academic career. The part-time students continue to work during their studies and are often employed at banks, as consultants, industrials or in the public sector. The programme also provides a vehicle for participants with professional experience in other domains, who are planning to make a career change. Full-time students take a year off to study. These are typically people with professional experience in business and finance. They come from many different cultural backgrounds; providing a cosmopolitan atmosphere in the classroom. The two groups (part-time and full-time) interact throughout the programme. In addition, the MBA group is expected to also work with Finance and Management and Sustainability Masters students. The ability to work with different specialists and different nationalities is one of the most fascinating and useful experiences of an MBA. PROGRAMME profile The Amsterdam MBA is a first-class, rigorous general management programme, entirely taught in English. Students can choose to complete the programme in one year (full-time) or in two years (part-time). The aim is to provide the students with practical and theoretical training at a high academic level. Drawing on a faculty with a wide international experience in international business, corporate finance, marketing and international economics, courses that are offered will introduce students to recent developments in international business. Visiting professors and professionals from leading financial institutes and multinationals, also play an important part in the curriculum.
