The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1726 and has grown and developed into the internationally renowned Medical School of today at the cutting edge of medical research and the delivery of patient care. Veterinary Medicine in Edinburgh has an equally impressive history. The Edinburgh Veterinary School, founded by William Dick in 1823 and one of the oldest and largest vet schools in the UK, is highly regarded internationally. The College has four Schools: • School of Biomedical Sciences • School of Clinical Sciences and Community Health • School of Molecular and Clinical Medicine • Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies The University’s Library is one of the oldest libraries in Scotland and is, today, one of the largest and most important academic libraries in the world. The Library holds around 1,000,000 items, including books, journals and other material. A wide range of electronic library services is also provided, including over 160 bibliographic databases and over 4,000 full-text journals ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Candidates are normally required to have completed an undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject and should submit details of academic qualifications and professional experience with their application. References are also required. For students whose first language is not English, documentary evidence of competence in both written and spoken English must be provided (IELTS or TOEFL or other approved tests).
