The Computer Science Department offers funding is available on a competitive basis for candidates who are able to demonstrate academic excellence I Careers services The Careers Service offers a wide range of selfassessment materials, including personality and skills awareness packages and a computer-based career guidance programme. Material is also available to help with CVs, application forms, interviews, psychometric tests and other aspects of selection. The Service has four careers advisers who give personal guidance, either through in-depth guidance interviews or, in term-time, via a daily 'drop-in' service for brief consultations without prior appointment. The advisers also run recruitment skills workshops and aptitude tests, as well as offering practice interviews UNIVERSITY OF YORK The main campus is at Heslington, on the edge of the City Centre. Here the colleges, each a mix of academic offices, student accommodation and social facilities, are grouped around a large lake in 200 acres of landscaped parkland. Every full-time student becomes a member of one of the Colleges, which, together with some residences and houses close to the University campus, provide accommodation for 40 % to 50 % of all graduate students. The campus is quiet and traffic free, with a network of covered ways, paths and cyle routes, and there are frequent bus services to the town. the University and in the city, that they will have access to first class educational facilities in a supportive environment and that when they graduate they will have a qualification which is recognised throughout the world. ADMISSION Students taking postgraduate courses should have obtained at least a second class honours degree (or equivalent). However, exceptions are made to these rules, especially for candidates wanting to take courses as mid-career continued professional development. For applicants whose native language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level of 6.0 in the IELTS test, 213 in the computer-based TOEFL test (or 550 in the paper-based test), A/B/C grades in the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English or grade A in the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English.
