/8 Close up on construction / Nanterre-Université Station The new Nanterre-université station emerges on the work calendar for 2012: a temporary platform, then a passenger building. k The new viaduct has a double skin By 2015, a new station will take shape in Nanterre-Université, offering simplified correspondences between the RER and Transilien, resized platforms and mechanical circulation accessible for all. In order to broaden the existing RER platform, a temporary platform will be installed, and part of the current platform will be closed for enlargement works. Work on the temporary platform is set to begin in June 2012 and the new platform will be in service in Q1 of 2015. Construction on the passenger building, designed by AREP for the RATP and SNCF, will begin in the second quarter of 2012. The RATP will oversee construction of this building, which will be able to accommodate 75,000 users per day. All modes of transport and correspondences will be accessible to the physically disabled in the same area that connects the Transilien, RER A, bus, taxis, bicycles and – one day – the T1 tramway. This building will be an anchor for the surrounding neighborhoods and for Université ParisOuest Nanterre La Défense; it is designed to meet the challenge of creating a lively urban meeting place for residents, students, and working professionals. Construction is now underway 500 feet (150 m) west of the current station and the building will begin welcoming passengers when the new station opens in mid-2015. k Download the informational brochure partial interruption of the rer A sunday, June 3, 2012 Building the new NanterreUniversité station requires realigning railwaysignaling systems for the entire area between RueilMalmaison and Charles de Gaulle-Étoile. RER line A traffic will be interrupted Sunday, June 3 between these two stations. k Download the latest construction site info Epadesa will also carry out the work on the exterior structure of the viaduct that will liaise from Rue Anatole France up to Boulevard des Provinces Françaises when the station becomes operational in 2015. The structure will soon prove to be valuable, as it will serve as an entry to the construction site of the new station in October. This exterior structure will be dressed in a “double skin” of white reinforced concrete panels installed over the existing structure.
