/9 Close up on construction Nanterre-Université: the new station is taking shape 3D animation of the construction of NanterreUniversité station The construction works of the future Nanterre-Université multimodal station are continuing with the realization of several spectacular operations. The construction of the viaduct The installation of the parvis’ beams The construction of the Nanterre-Université multimodal station has entered into a spectacular phase. During the nights from December 15th to 21st 2010, the 27 beams representing half of the deck have been installed above the RFF railways. Coming from Luxembourg, these beams have an average length of 45 meters and weight 33 tons each. They have been mounted using an 800 tons crate that arrived as a kit and was transported by seven semi-trailers. The second half of the deck will be build above the RATP railways next spring using the same method. This first step in the roofing of the docs by the parvis will allow to perceive the implantation of the future multimodal pole. This large scale operation mobilized a dozen workers of the NGE company, from 10 PM to 5 AM. These works are punctuated by the SNCF’s and the RATP’s consignments. Indeed, their authorization is mandatory to intervene on the site and obtain the power cut into the train’s power cables in order to ensure the workers safety. From September 2010 to June 2011 a DISMANTLING OF THE RATP’S WORKSHOPS ON THE BOULEVARD DES PROVINCES FRANÇAISES UNIVERSITÉ STATION’S VIADUCT As part of the new NanterreUniversité station project, the construction works of the viaduct and the monumental stairway extending from the future station’s parvis have just started and will go on for the next two years. This 140 meters long work of engineering will be conceived by the TGT - Y Ingénierie group under the management of the Etablissement Public d’Aménagement de La Défense Seine Arche (Epadesa). Eventually, this viaduct will provide a service road for vehicles (cars, buses, bikes and, on the longer term, the extension of the line 1 of the tramway) from the avenue de la République to the new Nanterre-Université station and the Provinces Françaises. It will create a real link between the surrounding cities and the Nanterre-Universtité station.
