Exhibition update CURVExpo expands east In the light of the success of its first two shows in Las Vegas in 2007, and its growing reputation, CURVExpo for 2008 will follow CurveNV with the launch of CurveNY to service buyers on the east coast. Both shows will be carried out in partnership with Boutique Lingerie. hough CURVExpo, created in October 2006, is a relative newcomer on the scene of intimate apparel trade shows, Jean-Luc Teinturier and Laurence Teinturier, the entrepreneurial team behind it have a long history of successful ventures in the fashion industry on both sides of the Atlantic. The first and second editions of CurveNV in Las Vegas which were held respectively in February and August 2007, received kudos from all industry players: for 2008 CURVExpo is looking to consolidate its place on the scene with a new trade show in New York and by teaming up with Boutique Lingerie whose luxury brands complement the quality brands with strong market penetration that have made Curve’s initial success. The underlying strategy is to offer department stores and specialty stores the opportunity to personalize their offerings and find brands that will attract demanding customers in search of exclusive design and creativity. Further, Curve and Boutique Lingerie have announced an expanded strategic tie extending to regional markets in 2008, targeted at exhibitors wishing to reach out to retailers in underserved regional markets and which will feature a special workshop during the Los Angeles fashion market week in March 2008. T events in NY at the same time are bound to guarantee additional traffic. The managing team made up of Jean-Luc Teinturier, Laurence Teinturier and Samantha Chang with whom a partnership has been signed, combines a total of 14 successful trade shows in the intimate apparel category in New York and so the CurveNY fair represents a homecoming. Management believes it was important to take this step and have done so in their own unique style. Design of the booths and overall layout is an exclusive concept developed for CurveNY and Boutique Lingerie by a US-based European architect. According to studies carried out, CurveNY will attract a majority of buyers from states in the north east but also from Quebec and Europe, providing them with the opportunity to source quality domestic and international brands with the best market penetration as well as exclusive luxury brands. CurveNY’s first time The latest entry in the list of important intimate apparel trade shows will open its doors to visitors on February 3rd to 5th in New York at the Penn Plaza Pavilion on 7th Avenue and 33 rd Street, a few blocks from all lingerie showrooms. The dates for the launch have been chosen to coincide with Intimate Apparel Market week in New York when department store buyers come from all over the US and Canada to shop, while a series of other topical CurveNV’s second year CurveNV, Las Vegas will return to The Venetian from February 14th – 16th, 2008 for the Fall-Winter 2008 collections. Management has secured a long-term exclusivity agreement with The Venetian, the preferred location of high-end shows such as Project, Moda, the MR (formerly The Exclusive) and Accessories, The Show. The February 2008 dates have been chosen to accommodate specialty stores who are extremely busy until February 13th, the period leading up to Valentine's day representing the busiest selling period of the year. Further, the tradeshow will take place concurrently with Magic. Following the success of the August edition which saw over 200 exhibitors and the presence of more than 2500 buyers, organizers are confident that numbers will be on the increase for February 2008 also thanks to the partnership with Boutique Lingerie and Samantha Chang’s strong reputation on the west coast. The Best of Intima at CURVExpo The Best of Intima will be present at both CurveNV and CurveNY at BOI’s Lounge with an ongoing video presentation of the 2007 Best Shop Awards. Come and meet our team.
