Event 1 2008 Hug Awards Gala The 2008 HUG awards were eagerly awaited and once again proved to be a success for both the intimate apparel industry with recognition given to top names, and for the IASC fund raising activities in support of the Rusk Institute for children. 2 T 7 he highly anticipated 2008 HUG Awards took place on November 5th 2008 under the Starlight Roof of the W aldorf-Astoria hotel in New York where over 200 guests gathered for the Intimate Apparel Square Club’s annual gala fundraiser . The upbeat awards event, recognizing high profile professionals, this year honored Betsey Johnson and Century 21 Department Stores for their great contributions to the intimate apparel industry Both Bet. sey Johnson and Century 21 Department Stores Executive Vice President Issac S. Gindi, accepting the award for the iconic retailer, put the true 4 stars of the evening first and foremost in their heartfelt acceptance speeches - the children of the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center. Johnson recounted how touched she had been during her tour of the pediatric ward at Rusk Institute in August and pledged to serve as a volunteer for the cause. Gindi also praised the IASC’s longtime efforts to support the Rusk Institute, saying,“I am very proud and moved to be associated with this organization.” T date, the o annual HUG Award gala has raised more than $3 million for the Rusk Institute as part of a pledge of $6 million to support programs at the pediatric wing, a state-of-the-art facility where children with disabilities receive quality treatment by Rusk staff in a comforting and cheerful environment.
