Maayan, who as a child was firmly rooted in Fine Art, later attended art school where she developed a fashion line with an emphasis on lingerie; Nikki , who since the age of five would make her Barbie dolls complete sets of apparel went on to study clothing design in Minneapolis. When they met they were both designing for other companies but the eclectic harmony between them was such that one year later they were doing pieces for a fun creative outlet which in no time brought them to establish themselves as a brand in their own right. With an intriguing name taken from a V ictorian euphemism for a woman’s skill in the bedroom, The Lake & Stars intimates balance provocation and humor intelligence and sensuality for a new vision of femi, nine style which brings together ready to wear and intimates in a singular vision that encourages women to wear their undergarments as a means to express themselves in surprising combinations. Streamlined trench coats and daywear find a place among more traditional lingerie essentials for creative pairings that revive the classic and redefine the seductive. Designed to stand alone or in complement to other clothes the pieces themselves embody a broader view of lingerie as fashion expression rather than costume; their clean lines and assertive detailing describe unique stylistic characteristics making them as personal as they are diverse and as accessible as they are luxurious.
