Fabric News Eurojersey’s green exlatest green expansion pansion May 15th 2008 saw the opening of a new Eurojersey logistics hub at the historical plant of Caronno Pertusella in northern Italy. This new addition is dedicated to the company’s famous Sensitive® fabrics: the whole manufacturing process – from weaving to printing– which will be carried out in the 43,056 ft2 site. Thereafter, the stock is sent to Eurojersey’s Hong Kong warehouse which is in charge of shipping it to international manufacturers and leading brands of the underwear, swimwear, sportswear and fashion sectors. The new warehouse is equipped with the latest cutting edge equipment and technology to ensure the best quality textiles but also to increase productivity thanks to a new GPS sensor system enabling the precise monitoring of every single pallet and roll of fabric. Within the hub, a 8,612 ft2 area is dedicated to a Final Inspection department for quality control, using ANDREA CRESPI the latest and most precise machinery. To complete this amazing new plant,a Testing Laboratory spread over a 4,306 ft2 surface, while additional funds have already been allocated for the purchase of new machinery for the dyeing department, which is scheduled to open in January 2009. ProModal® new combi-fiber ProModal® is the new innovation from Lenzing, a fiber combining the two branded fibers Lenzing Modal® and TENCEL®. With the softness of Lenzing Modal® and performance and strength of TENCEL®, ProModal® is an enhanced fiber of optimum quality. Determined to remain ahead of the competition, Lenzing’s strategy for success rests on further development and innovation even in the well established Modal fibers market. “This is the only way that one can remain competitive in the longterm”, Business Unit Textiles Manager, Friedrich Weninger, is convinced. ProModal® is blended gram by gram in a blendomat specially calibrated for Lenzing ensuring a homogeneous blending ratio of the two fibers. It is only produced by Lenzing, as patent owner of these branded fibers. ProModal® is globally registered as a brand. As well as providing technological advantage, ProModal® is also ahead in terms of environmental standards. ProModal® is developed from cellulose fibers extracted from wood. The yield is approximately six times higher than that of cotton yet the water consumption is 10-20 times lower. The ProModal® textiles are robust with enhanced tear strength but feel extremely soft and pleasant against the skin. It is an alternative fiber to cotton and is well suited for use in knitwear, cotton blends, active wear and home textiles. Furthermore, an international team is on hand to assist licenced manufacturers with extensive technical support in production of fabrics and questions pertaining to the marketing and processing of ProModal®. Lenzing has established this club to actively support manufacturers in applications of their textiles, stimulating development and innovation in the wider textile industry.
