Talent Virgine Rouffignac was raised between velvet theatre seats and movie sets. As an origami fan, she found her calling in life assembling rare pieces of fabric together . She worked her way into the business, first by working backstage at the Opera Bastille, the Comédie Française, the L Opera and later on with fashion houses such yon as Lacroix Haute Couture, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture, Lanvin and Martin Margiela. For the next 18 years she put her talent to the service of the greatest fashion houses without ever losing sight of her dream of creating her own brand of clothing. In 2007 she decided to gave it a try, creating a brand called Virginie R. that included three lines: Corsets by Rouffignac, Mariage by Rouffignac for evening and ball gowns, and Nonos by Rouffignac for the lingerie section. “ My lingerie is thought of for all women who once burnt their bras and affirmed their freedom,” said this fiery designer . “ To respect your body you have to respect the planet, that’s why I chose organic material s as well as kimono fabrics, vintage mottled lace, all chosen with precision… and passion. ” V irginie passes forward the memory of a certain skill by using recycled materials. The lingerie is traditionally manufactured and all pieces in vintage textile are numbered, which explains the small series limited by the number of pieces a kimono can hold. All fine items of clothing, of a light and flowing allure, are made of silk chiffon, satin, cotton, linen, vintage lace and vintage kimono silk. The corsets are created with delicacy while respecting comfort and body freedom. They adapt the beauty of old-fashioned pieces to contemporary needs: soft, flowing materials, with simple underwiring on items to lace up, and to zip up with a hidden, integrated zipper. All carefully worked out products, made of vinyl, cabochons ribbons, lace, cameos, flowers, rhinestones, tulles, taffetas, velvet and organdie, embellish women while recalling the mystery of boudoirs.
