Swiss embroiderers come together On October 27th 2008 the six major Swiss manufacturers of embroidery – Bischoff Textil, Eisenhut, Embrex Stickerein, Filtex, Forster Rohner and Union – founded the «Innovationsgesellschaft Stickerei AG (IGS)» whose aim is to implement a series of initiatives and projects in the field of R&D to ensure the specific industry a prosperous future. Thanks to its solid foundations, the Swiss textile industry, and in particural that of embroidery, represents an important part of the nation’s industry. In order to preserve their avant-garde status in the field’s development and also in consideration of their relativley small size, the companies have decided to unite and to bring their strengths together to promote innovation to the fullest. Headquarters of the company will be the Tebo (Technologiezentrum an der Empa St. Gallen) located at no.5 in Lerchenfeldstrasse in Saint Gall, a structure which offers an ideal setting for research activities. Ricamificio Paolo enhances beachwear Ricamificio Paolo’s swimwear textile collection for S/S 2010 is geared towards innovation. Thanks to increasingly high precision techniques the new generation laser-cut embroidery enables greater chromatic contrasts even on double lined textiles. This technique allows for a more sophisticated style where geometrical motifs can be applied to all kinds of detailing, from guipures and flounce to flower-shaped embellishments cut out from a different material. Carvico launches XLAnce At the latest edition of MarediModa the Italian company Carvico presented its new fabric XLAnce. Solid, versatile and highly resistant, this innovative fabric is particularly suited to beachwear. Manufactured using the XLA fiber by Dow Fiber solutions, which makes it impervious even to chlorine, sweat, sun creams and UV rays , XLAnce guarantees optimum endurance even after considerable lengths of time. Available in a wide palette of brilliant colors, starting with a classic range of sporty tones such as black and white, it also offers typical beachwear colors that are more fashionable like pink and green. 99
