For our day «D» we prepared a special 1980-1983
playlist on Deezer (« EAP 1983-2013» for the early
80’s fans), distributed a welcome pack with wristbands with the party baseline «1983-2013 EAP
Forever», lucky stickers saying «2013 is going to
be our year» and copies of a document with the
photos of the whole class, which had been produced in… 1980, plus flash drives with everyone’s
email address & telephone number and all the
pictures we had managed to get our hands on.
So there was music, photos, glitter hats and feather boas, champagne, wine and food and good
feeling all around!
There was real enthusiasm during the preparation,
even though some of us were a bit skeptical about
meeting after such a long time and feared that it
might turn out to be that kind of party where after a
while you wonder: «at what point did I think coming
to this party was a good idea?». Well it ended up
being a great evening for everyone!

The few excerpts below from messages we received just after the
party, speak louder than anything we could say:
“Still filled with the positive emotions of seeing you all after so many years! I must confess I somewhat
feared that such a reunion could turn out to be a kind of “who’s got the biggest” contest -you know,
the kind of competition where you dread to finish at either end and be the talk of town for the years to
come, the kind of contest where you just hope to finish in the top quartile because it’s the only one that
provides ego reinforcement.
Well, the good news is, we ALL finished in the top quartile (yes, it is possible since we obviously made
it that way last night).
Everything was just good humour, a thoroughly enjoyable moment, not the least thanks to a faultless
organization! Probably one the very best EAP parties, and that is a lot to say, because I keep very fond
memories of our parties and the good times we had.
It was great seeing you all so identical, if not quite physically, indeed in character, mannerism, smile,
love of life, and above all humour and laughter, to the memories I had kept of you. It seemed like it has
not been such a long interval after all.”
“Yesterday was a brilliant firework of sheer happiness and wonderful emotions. What an amazing
reunion to be part of! It was so nice to catch up with all of you and I enjoyed every second of this
evening.”
“Sign of the times: I remember we French were somewhat reluctant to use English as a common
language between Eapians. It now seems all so obvious to do so...”
“We age like good wine and what matters most, our souls have remained untouched over these past
30 years as absolutely nobody has turned out to be a «vieux con» (excuse my French), which is a
reassuring feeling! We should be thankful for our EAP experience just for that!”
And good news, thanks to Detlev HArtMANN’S initiative, we’re all going to meet in Berlin next year!
