graduate of ESCP in 1988, the Institut Multimédias (1992) and AMP Harvard Business School (2000), Arnaud de PuyfontAInE has been the CEo of Hearst uK since April 2009. He started his career as a consultant at Arthur Andersen and then in 1989 as a project manager at Rhône-Poulenc Pharma in Indonesia. In 1990 he joined Le figaro, where over five years, he occupied various positions alongside Philippe Villin: the Managing Director of Le figaro, publishing director of the daily newspaper and the weekly Le figaro Économie, Managing Director of Le figaro Grandes Écoles et universités, Le figaro La Défense, Les Guides du figaro and Le figaro Evénements. As a member of the team that founded the Emap group in france, in 1995 he started off by heading télé Poche and Studio Magazine, managed the acquisition of télé Star and télé Star Jeux and created the Emap Star business unit (tV/film publishing: télé Star, télé Poche, télé Star Jeux, Studio Magazine), which he managed, before becoming Coo in 1998. In 1999, he was appointed Chairman and CEo of Emap france, and joined the Executive Board of Emap Plc in 2000. from 2000 to 2005 he was also Chairman of EMW, the digital subsidiary of Emap/Wanadoo. He spent 50% of time on the international field and businesses. Emap france was sold to the Italian media group Mondadori in August 2006. Arnaud de PuyfontAInE was CEo of Mondadori france and member of the Mondadori Management Board in Milan. In June 2007, he was appointed Chairman of Group Mondadori france and was given worldwide responsibilities as CEo for all digital developments and operations in Mondadori Group. In october 2008, the french President initiated a summit about the future of the press industry with the objective to come up with solutions to the structural economic difficulties of the sector. nicolas Sarkozy appointed Arnaud de PuyfontAInE as Chairman of the “Industry” committee, dealing with industrial issues (distribution, printing, financing, advertising) in the sector. In January 2009, he was commissioned to drive the process in its operational phase. In April 2009, Arnaud de PuyfontAInE joined the American media group Hearst and has been appointed CEo of Hearst uK (the national Magazine Company, Comag, Hearst Digital). He is based in London, but continues to pursue, in parallel, activities related to the press in france, including the co-founding of Elteg, a start-up developing a technological and marketing platform, dedicated to online media. Arnaud de PuyfontAInE holds various positions within the press industry in france. He is currently a board member and member of the audit committee of the PPA (Periodical Publishers Association). In france, he is also involved in the digital press area. He is Director of the Aspen Institute and member of the “Dialogue Economique” committee of the french employers organisation, MEDEf. Patron of the 2007 MiM Grande Ecole class and member of the Board of the Alumni Association in 2005, Arnaud de PuyfontAInE becomes Chairman of ESCP Europe Alumni in 2011. Arnaud de PuyfontAInE received 2 french national awards: Chevalier in the order of Merit and Chevalier in the order of “Arts et Lettres”.
