News PROMO EAP 98 Berlin stream wonderful weekend By Susanne STEINER [98 BE] D.R. I t was largely thanks to ESCP-EAP London that the weekend of our reunion was so special and so well organised: on request from Davide SOLA (98 BE), alumnus and incidentally now director of ESCP-EAP London, Mary Aranda had arranged for the perfect weekend programme. Earlier in the year, the promo had been asked to vote for a venue, and Berlin was chosen. On Berlin campus Friday night Saturday On Friday night, the first arrived for welcoming drinks at Berlin hotel « Best Western » nearby central Spittelmarkt. With us were hostess Katharina PANKOKE, a current student of the MEB-programme (London). There were a lot of lovely surprises of who arrived: friends from Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich came as well as those from places further away such as Amsterdam, Paris, London and Oslo! Despite not having met in a number of years, it was felt that we all had hardly changed -no matter how many kids or jobs we have all had in the meantime… Thanks to Heiko’s initiative, some of us went on partying till the early hours. One party animal however was sadly missed at the activities the next day. On treasure hunt ! For Saturday, a treasure hunt had been planned, and we all met in front of TV Tower at Alexanderplatz. In teams of 8 we were then sent away on a mission to answer questions, cruising the historic area of Scheunenviertel. The small size of the teams as much as the fact that we were allotted to a team allowed for wonderful one-on-one chats with several people. This was really brilliant, and we were able to catch up with fellow alumni, and also with a few of their respective partners! Later in the day we all met at the school’s Berlin campus, which kindly hosted welcoming drinks. In the evening, a wonderful dinner had been arranged for us, at upmarket club « Felix », situated at the back of Hotel Adlon. The evening’s surprise theme was a surprise even for the organisers, as the company Playboy was the sponsor of a separate event at the same venue. Our seated dinner in Playboy-decorated surroundings with « bunnys » and wanna-be-playmates was obviously surreal and highly amusing, and particularly appreciated by many of our male colleagues. Again, we had time to catch up over dinner, then had a chance to dance together till the early hours, just like in the old days in Oxford. Sunday D.R. On Sunday, a crowd of 20 met for brunch around lunchtime, this time not previously organised by the school. In the end we met at café Oxymoron in one of the Hackesche courtyards, and were really lucky to have 3 tables to ourselves. Before heading off one after the other, we all agreed: Let’s keep in touch!
